All things fall, for this sweeties cake smash!
When Lily's mama contacted me about a cake smash for her little ones first birthday, she didn't have anything specific in mind. She wanted fall themed, with pumpkins. No characters, no cartoon theme, no specific color scheme, just fall and pumpkins! I sent her an idea and immediately we both knew that was the theme and the backdrop to be used!
Often when we are chatting about themes for your babes first birthday cake smash session, I take the idea and run with it with different ideas, sending backdrop options and color ideas, outfit ideas, and the best cake design for the set! No detail is left to the imagination because I always strive for it to be absolutely PERFECT!
So, to jump right in- lets show what happens during a cake smash & bubble bath splash session!
Of course the planning, but once that is all set and we know how the set will look. The best part is actually having the session and capturing all of those sweet little memories that come with it! When the session starts, the first thing I like to do is capture their more "Formal" portraits. Normally I recommend a more neutral theme for some portraits as well because it gives some extra variety during the session! These photos are great for hanging in your home for a lifetime and using for different occasions! My favorites are our fine art settings, which is what you see above, with a plain colored texture backdrop to really let your little one shine! I also love using our wood drops! After we finish with our more formal neutral portraits, we jump over to your set and if you have a different outfit, we have babe changed and moved to the "main set". We do some portraits there, don't worry, cake smashing is on its way, but once that train starts, it is impossible to stop it, so we get the "boring" to the babe parts first right? :P I normally recommend a more neutral outfit that still compliments the colors and themes without it being too focused on that theme for these portraits.
After we have our neutral formal portraits, and main set portraits, using all of the cute crates, chairs, benches, stools, etc. we have babe changed into what they will be smashing their cake in. Normally I recommend little romper outfits, diaper cover outfits, tutus, etc. so that it is a more simple and of course less likely to be ruined forever without being able to wear it again and of course adds more variety to your portraits!
Here comes the fun, CAKE SMASH! I love seeing all of the different reactions because each child is different! Some babes are 100% ready to smash the cake like hulk, and other babes prefer a wooden spoon because who wants to get THAT messy?! :P
Either way, they always end up perfectly adorable and perfectly YOUR child! We give them time to really explore and have fun with their cake smash! This time could be 5 minutes, or 20 minutes, or more. Again each child is so so so different in their own ways but believe me, they will show us when they're completely over the smashing of the cake! During this I capture many different shots of your little one, even those little details where their toes go right into the cake and they think it is just HILARIOUS!
After the fun of the cake smash, we move on to...
last but absolutely NOT least...
BUBBLE BATH SPLASH!!
This is beneficial for more than just the cuteness, believe me you will LOVE the fact that you have a bubble bath tub to wash all of that cake off of your little ones while getting some adorable portraits of them splashing and laughing away! We normally have babe stripped down out of their cake smash outfits and put into the tubby! From their it really unfolds on its own while babe splashes and gets cleaned up at the same time!
After babe is all cleaned and done playing because lets face it, for them it is totally play time for this- you are free to get your little one dressed back into whatever you'd like and you are done! The same thing as for every session, when you come back for your gallery reveal session you will see all of the final edited images and completely swoon in awe of how adorable your little one is!

Alyssa Hare - Hi there! Your work is beautiful! I’m looking to do a 1 year photo shoot. My son’s Birthday is May 21, so hopefully sometime around then. What would a package/ pricing be like for this? Thank you!
