Newborn Photography Sessions
Newborns
One (if not THE) of the most amazing parts of life is welcoming a new baby into this world as you head into parent hood. Whether it is your first baby, your third, or your sixteenth- every baby is a blessing and deserves to be embraced with all of the bells and whistles!
To start off, for newborn sessions, I book for the due date of the baby. Normally parents contact me within the first 20-30 weeks of pregnancy to ensure a spot on my calendar. I take six newborn due dates per month, to guarantee that each baby can have the time they need to be comfortable and if they aren't in the mood for photographs, we have time to reschedule without compromising the session!
After you inquire and book your newborn session, I send you a questionnaire to be filled out at your earliest convenience. This includes questions that will help me customize and tailor the session completely with your home and your family in mind! Some of the questions are about color scheme, posing and groupings, prop requests, sibling poses, parent poses, family poses, as well as baby's basic information such as name, due date, nursery colors or theme, etc. This information can be specific to create something that you want to match to hang on your wall, or you can give general instructions/surprise me instructions, if you are open to anything and want me to work my creative magic alone! In the event that you aren't sure what it is that you want, i always welcome you into the studio for a tour and a custom complimentary appointment so that you can hand pick the items you want to be used!
Once your baby has been born, I ask that you contact me as soon as possible to book their official time and date for their session. The best time to photograph him/her is during the first 4-14 days of their life. Of course it can be done outside of this time as well, in my opinion this seems to be their optimal time for sleep, flexibility and most content! You will be able to choose the time and date that works best for you and your family.
Once the session is near, I send off a "prep list" to help you prepare for the session. This includes instructions starting from the night before your baby's session. It includes the best ways to keep babe happy, healthy and content as well as recommendations on what family members should wear, and what to do before heading to the studio!
When you arrive at the studio, it is generally very warm (Around 76 degrees), so I always recommend dressing in layers! Baby's love to be warm, and that makes sure that they are never too cold or uncomfortable, especially during changes and poses without clothes covering their skin. I normally have some snacks and drinks out for you and your partner to enjoy while babe is being photographed, and welcome you to any of the amenities available during your session. I have found that 90% of my sessions, one of the parents is knocked out in a deep slumber on the couch catching a few Z's that have been long forgotten since this little one has arrived! (Totally okay with me, I love that it is comfortable enough to help! :P )
We will move throughout baby poses, props, furs, etc. and then move on to parent poses, sibling poses, family poses, etc. There is always time for breaks for nursing and diaper changes if the baby needs. All of the "schedule" is baby led, therefore we follow their lead on what they do and don't like! In general, most of my newborn sessions take anywhere from 2-3 hours. Occasionally there is rockstar sleeper babes who can go quicker, and there is also babes who have began to cluster feed, may have gas, etc. who may take a bit longer than the estimated time. I always prepare parents for a 2-4 hour session time and family is welcome to leave and come back (with the exception of at least one parent staying with the baby in the studio for the entirety of the session) , or even run errands if they are not interested in sitting through the entire session. (It's totally understandable!)
For newborn portraits, there is a $200 session fee, and then photos sold separately! No digital images or prints come with the session fee, this fee is a nonrefundable or transferable fee that covers the planning of the session, the session, and the reveal/ordering session catered to you!
After your session, I edit all of the final images and schedule a time for you to come back into the studio for a private gallery reveal session. This is where you will view all of your edited images and decide what it is you want to do with them! We have many different options that cater to many different wants, needs, and budgets!
All of our prices are listed right on the main investment page as well as here. There is Wall Art, which consists of the choice between Canvas Gallery Wraps, Framed Prints, and Metal Printed Art. We also have your standard Gift Prints. Digital collections are available for those who prefer to print their photographs on their own. One of my favorite options is our Albums and Books, there is two types of books that I offer depending on the style and budget you are looking to keep. There are also other add on items that are available as well depending on season and stock.
If you have any questions at all, are interested in knowing more, or are interested in booking your session. Please reach out to me at your earliest convenience and I will help you as best as possible to ensure that you have a great experience!
